He\u2019s a talented photographer, he has an impeccable eye for design, his outgoing personality and smile are infectious, and he\u2019s quite handy with a wrench.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan is also deaf since birth. Yet, that never stopped him one bit, and it has become a part of who he is as an accomplished Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) and a great ambassador for Envoy.<\/p>\n<p>Born in the Detroit area, Jordan attended Lansing Community College and their Aviation Maintenance Technology program. For instance, there\u2019s signals to disconnect or connect ground power, install or remove chocks bracing the tires, and the list goes on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A constant awareness of his surroundings is key to Jordan\u2019s safety, he says. \u201cBefore I can start working, I check my\u00a0workplace to see if I can work safely. I also check to see if someone is trying to get my attention. As a graphic design student perusing magazines for inspiration, aircraft always flew off the page for Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when Jordan changed his focus to a career in aviation. \u201cOnce I graduated aviation school, I knew this was my passion,\u201d he says. \u201cI always enjoy every minute of my job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On a daily basis, Jordan works out on the ORD ramp running oil checks, tire checks, and systems check to ensure everything on the aircraft is operating normally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite part of my work is when I fix a plane and then see them get back in the air again,\u201d Jordan says. \u201cIt is always a good feeling. My absolute favorite time at work is when my mother saw me from onboard a plane and yelled out, \u2018that\u2019s my son fixing the plane!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Go your own way<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12440\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12440\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_ORD_MX_AMT_May_2019-34-.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12440 size-full\" title=\"Jordan on the flight deck of an Embraer 145 at ORD. \" src=\"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/IMG_ORD_MX_AMT_May_2019-34-.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_ORD_MX_AMT_May_2019-34-\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12440\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jordan on the flight deck of an Embraer 145 at ORD.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jordan is always thankful for the opportunity to fix planes for Envoy.\u00a0He says he\u2019s learning something new every day, and he\u2019s grateful for the guidance from his coworkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey always treat me just the same as everyone else,\u201d he says. \u201cThey never let me feel like I am less important because I am deaf. They always have my back whenever I need it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That kind of positive reinforcement goes a long way in maintaining his enthusiasm for aviation and Envoy. In order to become a better mechanic, he says that he \u201cneeds to stay patient, stay motivated, and keep growing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jordan is just like anyone else in the airline industry.
