After winning an American Airlines Customer Cup for outstanding operational performance and customer satisfaction back in 1Q19, the Envoy team in\u00a0Laredo<\/strong>, Texas (LRD) once again started out the year strong with another first-quarter win, this time for great performance in 1Q22.<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s one thing that team LRD does well, it\u2019s looking out for each other. As LRD Customer Service Agent\u00a0Terrie Vargas<\/strong>\u00a0explains:<\/p>\n

\u201cBaggage is my baby \u2013 I\u2019m the bag champ! When we\u2019re inside working the flight, we\u2019re also looking at how our bags are doing to make sure they\u2019re all on board. If something gets mis-scanned, we\u2019re all on it quick!\u201d<\/p>\n

Over on the ramp, the same awareness for others \u2013 even those outside of LRD \u2013 carries over. As LRD Supervisor\u00a0Ricky Martinez<\/strong>\u00a0adds:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re always focused on our turn time and teach our new hires how quick turns can help that aircraft and crew make up time if they come in late. We aim for 20 minute turns for every E145; five minutes faster than other stations!\u201d<\/p>\n

This commitment not only to excel, but to help others is what gave team LRD the edge over some of the other stations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a\u00a0Laredo<\/em>\u00a0trophy, not an Envoy trophy,\u201d said Regional Managing Director,\u00a0Raquel Alaniz<\/strong>\u00a0during the team\u2019s Cup celebration. \u201cWe have a great relationship with the Airport, our TSA colleagues and our customers here, and that\u2019s shown by your victory here today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Being a border town, flight loads are high and many customers include asylum seekers traveling on behalf of the government. This adds complexity, with many travelers not bringing luggage, and others having limited knowledge of airport operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we have asylum seekers and refugees on board, we work with the team at DFW to make sure we have enough ballast to avoid weight and balance issues, and the whole team does what they can to help with the travel experience\u201d adds Ricky. \u201cEvery customer is treated with respect, and we do what we can to welcome them to the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

Excelling at the basics, and focusing on teamwork for each other, for downline stations, for colleagues and for our customers \u2013 regardless of where they come from or where they\u2019re going \u2013 is what makes team LRD special and made them deserving of the Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you all for bringing so much to the team,\u201d adds LRD General Manager\u00a0Martin Alarcon<\/strong>. \u201cFrom picking up hours to always being there for each other, you make me proud every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
