{"id":5579,"date":"2017-06-12T07:58:15","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T12:58:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/?p=5579"},"modified":"2017-06-12T07:58:15","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T12:58:15","slug":"real-american-hero-albuquerque-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/2017\/06\/12\/real-american-hero-albuquerque-2\/","title":{"rendered":"A Real American Hero in Albuquerque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 13, Albuquerque (ABQ) team members <strong>John Metzgar<\/strong> <em>(shown above, left) <\/em>and <strong>Dana Henderson<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>were walking into work when Dana unexpectedly passed out, hit his head on the ground and drew blood. After providing first aid for more than 15 minutes with no ambulance in sight, John helped Dana up and took him to hospital where they both stayed for the remainder of the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_ABQ_June_2017_John_Metzgar_Real_American_Hero_Award-14.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5594 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.envoyair.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_ABQ_June_2017_John_Metzgar_Real_American_Hero_Award-14-400x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_ABQ_June_2017_John_Metzgar_Real_American_Hero_Award-14\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>\u201cJohn\u2019s support, training and quick thinking made a huge difference during this medical emergency,\u201d said Terry Rios, Envoy ABQ General Manager. \u201cAnd if this had happened just a few minutes prior, Dana would have been driving into work! I\u2019m proud of John for helping Dana get proper medical attention \u2013 he saved a life that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the incident, Terry nominated John for an American Airlines <strong>Real American Hero Award<\/strong>.
